Nestled between the lifestyle-oriented Wan Chai and business-focused Central district, Admiralty neighborhood has embraced elements of both worlds. This dichotomy of professionalism and carefreeness is reflected in the neighborhood’s premier business centers and vibrant shopping scene. However, this has somewhat left the foodies in the dark. To help you unearth a few gastronomic gems from this barren food landscape, we’ve selected three of our favorite lunch spots. You can thank us later, happy eating.
Tucked away in the Wing Cheong Building on Hennessey Road, this authentic Thai restaurant is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. If you’re looking for a classic European lunch experience then look no further than FRITES. This buzzing Belgian beer house offers up a selection of traditional European grub accompanied by Hong Kong’s largest collection of Belgian Beer. In homage to the famous 1920s beer halls of Belgium, FRITES’ high ceilings, stain glass windows, and wooden benches deliver a rustic and rousing scene. The diverse menu offers hearty portions of food, including a pot of mussels drenched in Hoegaarden and lemon sauce, Stella Artois battered fish and chips, and a delightfully indulgent 750gm roasted pork knuckle. Yet, it’s the authentic range of Belgian beer, five on draught and countless more by the bottle, that really carry the flag for this energetic establishment. Such is the popularity of FRITES, the restaurant has three branches located across town in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, and Central. So take your pick!
