theDesk is joining forces with Kennedy Town’s Lemon Drop Studio for a special movie night on Saturday July 15. And you’re all invited…

Are you a fitness fanatic who, when it comes to your movies of choice, loves a quality sports comedy? Or are you a more laidback person who prefers some meditation and an empowering-yet-easygoing flick? Well, it doesn’t matter who you are when it comes to our ‘Movies, Meditation and Muscle Madness’ event on Saturday July 15 because we’ve got all the fitness freaks and the all relaxation gurus covered.

We at theDesk co-working and events space in Sai Wan have joined forces with new Kennedy Town yoga venue Lemon Drop Studio to bring ‘Movies, Meditation and Muscle Madness’ to members of our Sai Wan, Sai Ying Pun and Kennedy Town neighbourhoods. Basically, for free, you can come along and enjoy either a night dedicated to fitness and sports or one dedicated to meditation and feeling good. All you have to do is RSVP to us as soon as you can!

Option 1: ‘Ice’ group (Movie + Meditation)

So, this is how it works: if you want the laidback night, then sign up to the ‘Ice’ group. This sees you meeting at theDesk at 5.30pm on July 15, where you can put your feet up in our space and enjoy some comfort foods sponsored by local businesses while you watch, on our big screen, 2010’s Eat Pray Love, a movie that follows Julia Robert’s protagonist as she searches for, well, everything in Italy, India and Indonesia. Once the movie is over, you’re then escorted across K-Town to Lemon Drop, where the team  lead the ‘Ice’ group through an hour’s meditation by candlelight. The emphasis is on relaxation and creating a feelgood vibe you can take with you on your Saturday night.

Option 2: ‘Fire’ group (Yoga + Movie)

If you want the fitness night, however, then sign up to the ‘Fire’ group. This sees you meeting at Lemon Drop at 7pm on July 15, where you can enjoy a full-on hour of fitness and combo yoga so you can work up a pre-movie sweat. Once you’re done, you’re then escorted across K-Town to theDesk, where you can settle down to 2015’s Eddie the Eagle, a hilarious sports comedy that follows the true story of one of Britain’s most entertaining (and determined) athletes of all time. There’s to be some nutritious post-workout food, again from local businesses, plus, yet again, a feelgood vibe.

So, which are you? Energetic or mad about meditation? Either way, join us for a fun night, which also toasts both theDesk’s and Lemon Drop’s shared ‘neighbourhood ethos’, where we’re both committed to bringing people and businesses in our surrounding areas together. Phoebe Chan, co-founder of Lemon Drop, says: “We share this ethos with theDesk, so we’re really excited to be organising this first movie-themed night collaboratively with the co-working and events space. It’s a great chance for people in Sai Ying Pun, Sai Wan and Kennedy Town to find out who they share a neighbourhood with and to make new friends while either meditating after an amazing Julia Roberts movie or getting pumped up before a hilarious sports comedy.”

Lemon Drop is always looking at ways to bring the K-Town community together. The studio holds classes nearly every day for yogis of all levels. Chan says: “Since we opened earlier this year, we’ve really been enjoying making friends in the neighbourhood. We’ve held some movie nights in our space already but ‘Movies, Meditation and Muscle Madness’ is our biggest film-themed night yet and we’re really looking forward to this collaboration with theDesk. Whether you’re into fitness or relaxation, it doesn’t matter. RSVP and enjoy a great night in great company!”
