For most Chinese locals, the week leading up to Chinese New Year can be chaotic when you have to juggle both work and preparation for the festivities.
Why not treat yourself by picking up a paintbrush and learn the therapeutic artform of Chinese calligraphy at theDesk One Hysan Avenue on Monday 12th February? There’s one decor to worry less when you take home a self-made Fai Chun!

About this event
It’s easy to succumb to anxiety and stress in a jam-packed and fast-moving city like Hong Kong. Ahead of the full-on Chinese New Year festivities, theDesk is driven by the mission to provide busy professionals with holistic work-life balanced skills.
In this FREE workshop, mental-wellbeing advocate and calligraphy-lover Yuri Hung will teach basic techniques to this traditional art discipline and identify parallels of mindfulness with art.
Date: Monday 12th February 2018
Venue: theDesk, 14/F One Hysan Avenue, 1 Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay
Transport: MTR Causeway Bay, Exit F (Hysan Place) or Exit A (Times Square)
Cost: Free
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Note: the workshop has a limited capacity. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Strokes to better health
Research studies have shown that practising Chinese calligraphy benefits to our health. Practising the artform can calm emotions and improve moods by slowing down physiological responses, including heart rate and blood pressure.
Get ready for theDesk Leighton Centre: Our new 15,000 sq. ft. co-working and events space opens February 2018
Participants will get to experience relaxation, patience and focus all in one through the practice of controlling a paintbrush and application of the strokes. At the end of the class, you will get to bring home a self-made Fai Chun (揮春), a traditional decoration used during Chinese New Year pasted on doorways as a symbol to welcome luck and prosperity for the new year!
