From 10 November 2016 to January 2017, theDesk plays host to a pop-up art exhibition at its sprawling coworking space. Featuring three young artists plus one, COLLABORATION is the first part of a collaborative series engaging Hong Kong local artists and theDesk’s international coworking community. COLLABORATION celebrates homegrown creativity and and at the same time bring inspiration to members at theDesk as well as the public.

Vera Chiu
Vera works is an arts and language educator, and has her own brand Moth that focuses on limited hand-drawn fashion pieces. She opened her fist solo exhibition in Hong Kong called “Hometown” last year, and has previously showcased her work in the city as well as in Scotland. Vera primarily uses acrylic paints on her artwork and has began experimenting with mixed media, thereby forming textures, layering forms and sculpting shapes. She has a Master of Visual Cultural Studies degree from Hong Kong.

Called “Back to Basic”, Vera will feature select paintings for COLLECTION made with personal items, a technique she uses to relate her artwork to her “self” and create a more sculptural visual effect. For more information about Vera’s work, please visit:

Jake Tse
With a natural talent for visual art, Jake’s inspiration comes from oriental culture and street art in Asia. Upon taking up photography, he began experimenting and developed a novel style for shooting minimalism that captures culture and calmness in every shot. He studied graphics design in Hong Kong.

For COLLECTION, Jake will showcase “Minimalism and Cultural”, a collection of photographs inspired by the people he meets on the streets of Hong Kong and other countries and his fascination of why everything is designed or built in such ways. For more information about Jake’s work, please visit:

Sarie Moolenburg & Sharon de Lyster
